Hats

Whipped up a few simple hats in December.  Nothing special.  One slouchy hat that is very fuzzy and comfortable.

And a cabled hat made from hand dyed wool.

That's all for now! Expect a Jake the Dog pattern next week!

Winter Hats in Spring

I ended up making some hats just in time for 80 degree weather! Woo!
I first made the hat Long Leaves Beanie from the book "Weekend Hats". I used some Red Heart Super Tweed yarn that I had been wanting to use for quite a while. The yarn coloring made it so that the pattern didn't turn out as clear, but you can still see it. This is going to be a hat for a friend of mine, but I will probably give it to her on her birthday, or Christmas or something.

This picture was taken without flash and better shows off the pattern.

After making this hat, I was in a hat mood, so I decided to try my hand at an original hat pattern. I first made a sketch, and then tried it out with some scrap yarn.

Little practice pieces!

Then I sketched out a better pattern. It's super sloppy, but I could read it.

Then I went on the making the actual hat! I got to use a really pretty mustard yellow color (called Pea Green for some reason). Everything worked well! Though, I do have to say, that this hat contained the most annoying row I have ever had to do: cable, cable, cable, cable, k6, make bobble, k7 repeat. Blech, not fun! And I wrought it upon myself! But it was totally worth it! The hat turned out amazing! (I plan to sell this on Etsy whenever I get my store up)

I call it my "Hint of India" hat!

Taken without flash, so you can see the pattern better.

So overall it was a very successful hat week. I plan to next work on finishing my shirt for my steam punk outfit. It is so hard to go back to a project that you haven't worked on, but I would like to have it finished by the end of the month so that I can wear it to an anime convention. We shall see what happens!

Too many projects

That's right folks, I am currently working on 3 projects and just finished a project. I'm in the process of knitting two cowls. One is almost done, but I'm not supper happy with the way things have worked so far...not sure what to do to fix it. I was thinking about lining the inside of the cowl with some sort of fabric, but I have yet to obtain said fabric. I have not given up on it yet! I will make something of it!
The other cowl on the other hand is turning out quite well! I am very pleased and I really like the color scheme I chose (turquoise and red). I think it will turn out quite well!
And guess what!?! I started that second legging! Yay! Still only have about an inch knitted, but that is a good start!
Just finished a head band recently. It is in my "to be sold on Etsy" pile. (As is the Bob-omb from the previous post, and a hat I whipped up) Anyways, it turned out super cute!! I almost didn't put the flower on, but am now very glad that I did!

And even with this large (for me) number of projects, I have still been really tempted to start about three more. I just need to concentrate on getting things done (mostly I should be concentrating on getting homework done...but knitting is just so much more fun!)

Sweater!!

So, it has been quite a long time since I last posted. But I have been working on a big project lately so I haven't really had much to blog about.
The big project has been my sweater! It turned out quite well. My only beef is that I think I sewed all the pieces together a little to tightly. The result is that I don't think I will be able to wear anything with a thick sleeve underneath as the arm holes are a little tight, also, the sleeves tend to ride up a bit. But overall I am really pleased with it! (Also, it's OK that I won't be able to wear sleeved things under the sweater, it is already quite warm is and snuggly!)
Anyways, here are the pics:

I have already started a few other projects since this sweaters completion (about a week ago). A friend at work was admiring my most recent mittens and asked me to make a pair. I told him I would for a price and so here I am making more mittens! I have one done and am about a third of the way through the second.

Have yet to sew in the loose ends as you can probably tell. (it is by far my least favorite part of any project, so I always save it for last)

Also, just started a pair of leggings...more later...

Sadly, I have hardly touched Beartato since I got home. *Sigh* He's so close to being done as well. I have made a resolution to finish him once I am done with the mittens. It will probably only take a few hours...I'm just at a boring part so it's hard to get motivated. But I will finish him soon!
